The Professor has passed away

Back in the early 2000's, this was a pretty active group. One of the constants was "The Professor"; Steve Horowitz, an Economics Prof from St. Lawrence University (more recently Ball State in Indiana). Dr. Horowitz passed away yesterday, far too early.

I didn't know him personally, but I'm sorry to hear about his passing.

A search of the Google archives shows that this group was once a lively and fun "place.". At some point in the 00s, it started to become anti-intellectual; participants imagined that Rush were Bush/Cheneyites. And of course now there are even Alt-Righters and QAnon followers who delude themselves into thinking Rush would have embraced those psychoses.

It's weird that, in spite of how articulate and outspoken Neil Peart was, people project their beliefs -- *any* beliefs -- onto him.
